4th of July

Its Independence Day and my 7 year old is baking a pie for our small, suburban town's annual picnic pie baking contest. The kids are supposed to do everything themselves. I was not supposed to help. This almost killed me. But she made her pie (thank everything holy I don't have to eat it!), wrecked my kitchen, and only cut her finger a little slicing strawberries. She got a little independence herself today.
